How to Add RDNS / PTR Records
Setting up Reverse DNS (RDNS), also known as PTR records, allows you to map an IP address to a hostname. This is essential for email deliverability and server reputation.

Log In to the HOSTAFRICA Client Portal
Go to: Login - HOSTAFRICA
Use your client credentials to log in.
Navigate to Your Services
- Click on Your Service, for example, 'Virtual Private Server'
On the new page locate your server/VPS from the list and click on “Active” or “Manage” beside it.


Manage Reverse DNS (PTR)
On the service management page, look for the option “Manage Reverse DNS” in the sidebar or under the server management actions.
Click on it to proceed.

Add PTR Record
Click “Add PTR”.
From the dropdown, select the IP address or server you wish to configure the RDNS for.
Enter the hostname you would like to map to the IP (e.g., my.testmail.com).
Click “Confirm” to apply the changes.



Ensure the hostname you use has a matching A record pointing back to the IP address.
PTR records may take some time to propagate.
