Adding an email account to Gmail via a web browser (Not Google Workspace)

This applies specifically to Gmail users without a Google Workspace subscription who want to use Gmail to access their email account.

1. Open Gmail: Open your Gmail account on your computer.

Settings:


Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select "See all settings".
2. Accounts and Import: Go to the "Accounts and Import" tab.


3. Add a Mail Account: In the "Check mail from other accounts"
section, click "Add a mail account".

4. Enter Email Address: Enter your full email address (e.g., yourname@domainname) and click "Next".
5. Choose Import Method: Select "Import emails from my other account (POP3)" and click "Next".

6. Enter POP3 Settings:

- Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@domainname)

- Password: Your email password

- POP Server: mail.domainname

- Port: 995

- Check: Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail - Optional: Select other options as per your preference (leave a copy of retrieved message on the server, label incoming messages, etc.)

Click
Add Account
: Once you have entered these details, click "Add
Account".
7. SMTP Settings for Sending Emails: After adding the account, you will be prompted to set up the SMTP server for sending emails:


- Yes: Select "Yes, I want to be able to send mail as yourname@domainname" and click "Next".

- Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in sent emails.

- Treat as Alias: Leave "Treat as an alias" checked (default setting).


 - SMTP Server: mail.domainname 

- Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@domainname) 

- Password: Your email password 

- Secure Connection: Select "Secured connection using SSL" (for port 465) or "Secured connection using TLS" (for port 587) 

8. Click Add Account: After entering the SMTP settings, click "Add
Account".


9. Verification:
Gmail will send a verification email to your name@domainname email address. 


Open the email and click the verification link, or enter the verification code in Gmail.
