How to Change the WHM Root Account Password via WHM

If you have root access, you can change the root user password directly from the WHM interface. This is helpful if you want to update credentials for security purposes or regain access without using the terminal.

Note: This guide is only applicable to users with root-level access. Reseller accounts do not have access to this option.
Steps to Change the Root Password in WHM
1. Log in to WHM as Root 2. Open the Change Root Password Tool
  • In the left-hand menu or search bar at the top, type:

  • Click on the Change Root Password option under the Server Configuration section.


3. Set a New Root Password
  • In the Change Root Password screen:

    • Enter your new password in both fields.

    • Alternatively, click the Generate Password button to create a strong password.

    • Be sure to save the new password securely (e.g., in a password manager).

4. Apply the Change
  • Click the Change Password button.

You will now be able to log in with your new root password.
Security Tip:

Choose a strong password that includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid common words or predictable patterns.
