Restore a cPanel Account from Backup in WHM
To restore a cPanel account in WHM, you need the following prerequisites: Root access to a VPS or Dedicated Server with WHM installed A full cPanel backup file (either already uploaded to your server or stored on your local computer)

WHM provides two main ways to restore an account:
This is used when the backup file is already uploaded to your server.
Steps:Log in to your WHM Root Account.
In the search bar at the top-left, type “Restore” and click on:
Backup » Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File
On the next screen, you’ll see multiple restoration options:
Restore with username
Restore with file
Overwrite an existing account (optional)
Assign a dedicated IP (optional)
Keep history/logs
WHM will search for backup files in the following server directories:
/home, /home2, /home3, /root, /usr, /usr/home, /webAcceptable file names include:
cpmove-{username} cpmove-{username}.tar cpmove-{username}.tar.gz {username}.tar {username}.tar.gz backup-{date_time}_{username}.tar backup-{date_time}_{username}.tar.gzSelect the appropriate backup file, choose your restoration options, and click "Restore".
If the restoration fails or you encounter an error, contact your old hosting provider or VPS support for further assistance.
If the backup file is stored on your computer, follow these steps to upload and restore it manually:
Steps:From WHM, go to:
Backup » Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File
Under "Restore with File", click Choose File.
Select the backup archive from your local machine (e.g., .tar.gz or .tar format).
Click "Restore" to begin the upload and restoration process.
A progress bar or log will display the restoration steps and results.
Only full cPanel backup files are supported. Incremental or partial backups will not work for full account restoration.
Restoring an account will recreate all emails, databases, and files as they were at the time of backup.
If restoring over an existing account, ensure you’ve backed up the current data, as it will be overwritten.
