Using the PanelAlpha File Manager

  • The PanelAlpha File Manager is a web-based tool that lets you manage your website files directly through your browser; no FTP software needed! 
  • It's perfect for quick edits, uploads, and file organisation.
Accessing the File Manager
  1. Navigate to My Hosting tab
  2. Click File Manager in the left sidebar
  3. The File Manager will open in your browser

File Manager Features and Capabilities
Browsing Files and Folders
Navigation:
  • Click folders to open them
      • Use breadcrumb navigation at the top to go back
      • View file details: size, date modified, permissions
      Uploading Files
      • Navigate to the destination folder
      • Click the Upload button
      • Select files from your computer
        • Click Submit to begin the upload
        • Wait for upload completion

        • Once the upload is complete, you will see the file(s) in your File Manager​

        Upload Limitations:
        • Maximum file size varies by plan (typically 50-200MB per file)
        • For larger files, use FTP/SFTP instead
        • Multiple files can be uploaded simultaneously
        Create a New File:
        • Click the New File button
          • Enter the filename (include extension, e.g., "index.html")
          • Click Submit


            • Edit the file using the built-in editor
            Create a New Folder:
            • Click New Folder button


              • Enter the folder name
              • Click Create

                • You will now see the created folder in your file manager

                Editing Files
                Using the Code Editor:
                • Right-click the file or click the edit icon
                • Select Edit from the menu
                  • The built-in code editor will open
                  • Make your changes
                  • Click Submit to apply changes
                  Deleting and Renaming Files
                  Delete Files:
                  • Select the file(s) by clicking the checkbox
                    • Click Delete button
                    • Confirm deletion
                    ⚠️ Warning:

                    Deleted files cannot be recovered unless you have a backup!

                    Rename Files:
                    • Right-click the file
                    • Select Rename
                      • Enter the new name
                      • Click on the Submit button to confirm
                      • You will now see the renamed file in your File Manager
                      Managing File Permissions
                      Changing Permissions:
                      1. Right-click the file or folder
                      2. Select Permissions or Change Permissions
                      3. Set appropriate permissions (e.g., 644 for files, 755 for folders)
                      4. Click Save
                      Common Permission Settings:
                      • 644 - Files (read/write for owner, read-only for othe
                      • 755 - Folders (full access for owner, read/execute for others)
                      • 600 - Secure files (only owner can read/write)
                      Extracting Compressed Archives
                      Extract ZIP Files:
                      • Upload your compressed file
                        • Right-click the archive
                        • Select UNZIP
                        • Click UNZIP to decompress
                        • Enter the destination folder​
                        • Click on Submit

                        • You will see the unzipped files or folders in your file manager

                        Supported Formats:
                        • ZIP
                        Use Case:

                        Quickly upload and extract WordPress themes or plugins that you downloaded from other sources.

                        Compressing Files
                        Create an Archive:
                        • Select multiple files/folders
                        • Right-click selection
                        • Choose Zip
                          • Enter archive name
                          • Click Submit

                          • You will now find the zipped file in your file manager.​

                          Why Compress?
                          • Easier to download multiple files
                          • Reduce bandwidth usage
                          • Create backups of specific folders
