If you need to change the password of a specific FTP user account, you can do so easily from either cPanel or DirectAdmin, depending on your hosting setup.

Note: To change the main/root FTP account password, you need to update the cPanel or DirectAdmin account password itself. The steps below apply only to additional FTP user accounts.

For cPanel Users
  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. Under the Files section, click on FTP Accounts.

  3. Locate the FTP account you want to update in the list.

  4. Click Change Password next to that account.

  5. Enter a new password manually, or use the Password Generator for a strong, secure password.

  6. Click Change Password to apply the update.

For DirectAdmin Users
  1. Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel.

  2. Navigate to Account Manager > FTP Management.

  3. Find the FTP user whose password you want to change, and click the pencil/edit icon.

  4. Enter the new password in the password field, or use the random password generator if available.

  5. Click Save or Update to apply the new password.

After the Update
  • You can now log in to your FTP account using the new password.

  • If you're using an FTP client (like FileZilla), make sure to update the saved credentials to avoid login errors.
