1. New Outlook for Windows

How to identify New Outlook?

If you do not see a File tab at the top of Outlook, you are using New Outlook.

These are the correct steps for your version.

Open account settings

1. Select the View tab, then choose View settings.
2. In the Settings panel, select Accounts, then Your accounts.
3. Under Email accounts, select Add account.

If a suggested account (such as a Microsoft account) appears in the field, clear it and type your HmailPlus email address instead.

4. Select Continue.
If Outlook cannot auto-detect the account type, an Advanced setup option will appear.
Select it.

Choose account type and enter server settings

5. On the Advanced Setup screen, select IMAP as the account type.

6. On the IMAP Account Settings screen, enter the server settings shown in the box above, then select Next.

If the screen pre-populates some settings, verify each field matches the values above before proceeding.
Do not leave any field on its default.

7. When prompted, enter your email password and select Done.

Microsoft cloud sync prompt:

New Outlook may ask to sync your IMAP account with the Microsoft Cloud.
This is optional; you can agree or decline based on your preference.
It does not affect email delivery
.

Setup complete.
Your HmailPlus email is now active in New Outlook.
2. Classic Outlook — 2016 / 2019 / 2021 / Microsoft 365

How to identify Classic Outlook?

If you can see a File tab in the top-left of Outlook, you are using Classic Outlook.

These are the correct steps.

Open Add Account

1. Open Outlook, then select File (top-left corner) → Add Account.

If this is your first time opening Outlook, the Add Account dialogue may open automatically — skip to step 2.

Choose manual setup

2. On the Add Account screen, enter your email address, then expand Advanced options and tick
'Let me set up my account manually'.
Select Connect.

3. On the next screen, select IMAP as the account type.

Enter server settings

4. On the Account Settings screen, enter your incoming and outgoing server details exactly as shown in the settings box above.
Then select Next.

Incoming mail server: imap.hmailplus.com
Encryption: SSL Port: 993

Outgoing mail server: smtp.hmailplus.com
Encryption: STARTTLS Port: 587
or
Encryption: SSL/TLS Port: 465

Outlook may pre-fill some fields based on your email address.
Check every field before clicking Next — pre-filled values are often incorrect for third-party IMAP accounts.

5. When prompted, enter your email password and select Connect.

Finish setup

6. Outlook will test your connection.
When both incoming and outgoing tests show a green tick, select Done.

If the connection test fails:

Select "Change account settings" and re-check your server names, ports, and encryption types against the settings box above.

A common mistake is entering port 25 for SMTP — the correct port is 587 with STARTTLS and 465 with SSL/TLS
.

Setup complete.

Your HmailPlus email is now active in Classic Outlook.
