How to Force cPanel Users to Change Their Passwords via WHM

If you want to enhance account security—especially after a compromise or policy change—you can force one or more cPanel users to update their passwords upon their next login.

Note: This option is only available to users with WHM access (Root or Reseller, depending on permissions).
Steps to Enforce Password Changes for cPanel Users
1. Log in to WHM
  • Open your WHM panel via:

  • Use your root or reseller login credentials.
2. Open the Force Password Change Tool
  • In the sidebar or search bar, type:

  • Click on Force Password Change under Account Functions.
3. Select the Accounts to Enforce Password Change
  • You’ll see a list of all cPanel accounts on your server.

  • You can:

    • Click Select All to apply the rule to all users.

    • Or manually check the boxes next to the usernames you want to include.

4. Submit Your Changes
  • Click the Submit button.

What Happens Next

The selected users will be required to set a new password the next time they log in to cPanel. They won’t be able to access their dashboard until this is completed.

This is a quick and effective way to improve account security across your server.
